Seeing customer relationships across product lines
A provider of protection and investment products, largely distributed through intermediaries, wanted to understand its customers across product lines. Separate policy reporting could not show the wider relationship.
The work behind the insight
Making fragmented customer data useful.
The challenge starts before the analysis. Customer and policy records may have no existing link, while useful information sits in different systems, formats and levels of detail. Our approach connects the records and gives the information a structure that supports insight and action.
Establish the right way to match records
Identify the most suitable matching method for the data available, including where there is no existing customer-to-policy relationship. Assess the reliability of the links and make uncertain matches and gaps explicit, so the resulting view has a sound basis.
Structure the information for use
Bring structured records and relevant unstructured information into a form suitable for analysis. Organise and standardise the data, retaining its source, timing and context so it can be interpreted and used appropriately.
Turn the connected view into useful insight
Examine relationships across products and channels, how they develop and what the combined information reveals. Connect the analysis to the questions the business needs to answer and the decisions or actions it could inform.
What this assignment produced
A consolidated view of customer relationships, profiles and timelines, with findings and strategic questions for senior leadership.
The useful lesson
A focused customer view can generate useful insight, reveal what the data can support and demonstrate potential benefits before a larger investment.
